Philosophy

While it's certain there is no limit to the possibilities that abound when trying to choose a wedding cake, it's also certain that with all the choices that are available, one can get a little overwhelmed.  Let us help guide you through the process of choosing the wedding cake of your dreams.  Whether it's a towering collage of your favorite cupcakes or a simple statement of beauty, one thing is certain:  It should be as unique as the two of you.  Most importantly, whatever the final product, it should be a treat for the eye as well as the palate. That's why all cakes are made from scratch with uncompromising standards, using only the freshest ingredients available...unsalted butter, fine European chocolates, & bourbon vanilla.

Let us help ensure that your wedding is as perfect as you dreamed.

FAQ's

Do I need an appointment to taste wedding cakes?
Yes. Our cafe does have cakes that you may buy slices of to try certain flavors but to have a personal, one on one consultation to sample cakes & discuss your specific needs, an appointment is required.

Is there a charge for wedding consultations?
For the first one, no. However there will be a $20.00 charge for any consultations beyond the first one.

How long do the consultations take?
Usually 45 mins.-1 hour. Please bring any pictures, swatches or invitations that you may want to match with your cake design.

Can I bring my family to the consultation?
It is in the best interest of everyone if you limit your companions to two at the most. Too many opinions can make a bride very frustrated.  We offer the samples in a to-go box so that you may take them with you to share with whom you like.

When should I book my cake?
Peak wedding season is April through October. If your wedding date falls within the peak season, we suggest you book three to six months in advance of your date. If your wedding occurs in the off-season, two to three months is sufficient.

How do I hold the date?
In order for a cake to be considered "booked" a $100.00 non-refundable deposit is required as well as a signed contract which we will fill out when you have decided to book with us.

Do I need cake for every person at my reception?
Generally yes however it can depend on many factors including other food being served, if alcohol is being served, etc. You know your guests...if your family are not generally dessert people, than we can adjust accordingly.

Do you have a minimum for wedding cake orders?
While there is no minimum for a wedding cake order to be placed, we do have a minimum of 100 servings of cake in order to have your cake delivered. If your cake is less than 100 servings you will have to make arrangements to pick up your cake.

We are NOT RESPONSIBLE for cakes once they have been picked up from our kitchen or cafe.

What areas do you deliver to?
We deliver to many areas surrounding the Portland Metro area; as far north as Vancouver, east to Edgefield, west to Hillsboro & south to Tualatin, however there can be exceptions to this rule depending on the circumstances.

Do you have a delivery fee?
Delivery to many locations throughout the Portland Downtown area is sometimes included in the price however there are many exceptions to that rule. All surrounding areas have a delivery fee, depending on distance. Please inquire about your specific destination.

What does delivery include?
Our delivery, whether it is an additional fee or not, includes communication with your reception coordinator if needed, set up & proper placement of your cake. While we do not offer flowers or cake toppers, we are happy to work with your florist to properly ensure the floral decoration of your cake & table.

Do you deliver on Sundays?
Yes, however there is an automatic delivery fee of at least $50.00 no matter where it is being delivered to. If a location's normal delivery fee is higher than $50.00 than that delivery fee will apply.

Who will deliver our cake & what happens if there is a problem?
Your wedding cake will be delivered by one of our professional pastry chefs. In the rare occurrence that there is a problem, it will then be able to be taken care of by a trained professional.

Can we have different flavors for each tier?
Yes however the price quoted to you will include only two flavor options. There is a flat $20.00 charge per tier for any flavor combination beyond that.

Do you offer sheet cakes as back up cake?
Yes, we offer 1/4 & 1/2 sheet cakes for back up cake & are a great option for a more economical option.

My reception is outside. Can I still have a cake without fondant?
We cannot guarantee a cake if it is to be presented outside. We use no preservatives or anything artificial therefore is it susceptible  to the elements.

Do you have any decorative stands that we may rent or use?
Unfortunately we do not have any decorative stands that are available. There are several event rental places in Portland that offer many beautiful options.

Who puts the flowers on my cake?
If you are using a florist for the flowers on your cake, you should ask them what they prefer to do, or if their schedule will allow them to arrange the flowers on the cake. Some florists like to put flowers on the cake, others do not.

At no charge, we will put a florist’s pre-arranged flowers on the cake. If loose flowers are ordered through your florist, you need to communicate very clearly to the florist and to Finales who is responsible for arranging your loose flowers & how you want them displayed. Arrangement of your flowers is included in our delivery.

I have a cake topper. Do I bring it to you ahead of time?
No, please & thank you! Cake toppers should be brought directly to your reception site. The fewer people handling your topper, the better. Please just leave the topper on your cake table & we will put it on when the cake is placed in it's final spot.

Please let us know if your cake topper is heavy and needs support. If you have any doubts about your topper’s suitability, you should bring it by our office before the reception date, so that we can look at it.

Do you offer a free anniversary cake?
Yes we do offer a free, 6", 2-layer cake free of charge for your one year anniversary. Please call about one week ahead of time to place the order.
